Shell Catalyst and Technologies (SC&T) is the leading global supplier of Hydro processing catalysts to the refining market. The Refining Reactor Operations Team is responsible for the operation of 96 nanoreactors, 48 microreactors, and 10 ebullated bed reactors. There are no direct reports. The team builds, operates, and maintains world-class facilities for testing and demonstrating commercial catalysts to produce refining catalysts. Operating a variety of reactors and analyzers servicing refining applications including distillates, CFH, hydrocracking, naphtha and resid. Responsible for displaying competencies consistent with JG8 to include Technical Knowledge (Expertise and Communication); R&D Project Design, Development and Execution; Innovation; Intellectual Property and Knowledge Management; and Business Context, Technology Strategies and Commercial Mindset. This skill set should align with clearly defined safety and environmental guidelines as reflected in the R&D Experimental Skill Pool Competence Framework
What’s the role -
This position is in the Refining Reactor Operations Team at STCH. This team is responsible for the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of the nanoreactors, microreactors, and ebullated bed units supporting the testing and development of new and commercial refining catalysts. This team supports reactor testing for the Refining Catalyst business (Shell Catalyst and Technologies) in the areas of Research and Development and Technical Service supporting all phases of technology transfer from innovation to deployment. This team plays a critical role by aiding project leads through the delivery of timely, accurate, and reproducible reactor data.
Responsibilities Include:
Support Goal Zero and HSSE performance.
Awareness level on all safety practices and procedures relating to safety inspections, and operating procedures.
Effective collaborator with a demonstrated history of being able to work with team lead, scientists and team members on setting and executing work priorities.
Unit start-ups/shutdowns, catalyst loading and unloading, maintain and line-out operations.
Knowledge level on process skills, equipment troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, computer, and data management skills related to reactor operations.
Equipment maintenance, calibration, and validation for reactor operations.
Procurement activities including tracking and ordering of equipment and consumables.
What we need from you -
A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
High School Diploma or equivalent at least three (3) years relevant experience
Specific skills and experiences must include:
Demonstrated Goal Zero mindset and experience with STCH safety practices and procedures.
Prior experience with the operation of pilot plant or other reactor systems with demonstrated troubleshooting at an expert level, equipment maintenance, and analyzer skills.
Proactive and results driven.
Good interpersonal and team effectiveness skills.
Computer and data management skills.
