Job description

Under occasional supervision, installs, maintains and repairs personal computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment, and maintains equipment inventory.

Assists end-users in solving software problems.

Acts as mentor/trainer for less-experienced coworkers.

Performs related technical work as required. Reports to the Deputy Director of Information Technology.

Installs, configures and tests personal computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment.

Diagnoses and resolves problems reported by computer users; arranges for repair by outside service providers as necessary.

Removes old computer equipment to salvage or surplus storage as appropriate.

Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and supports specialized applications such as CAMA and content/document management systems.

Terminates cable for LAN and connections.

Maintains inventory of computer equipment.

Provides user training, support and assistance as needed. Acts as mentor/trainer for less-experienced coworkers.

Attends various meetings as required; attends classes, workshops, seminars, etc., to maintain job knowledge and skills.

Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance from County staff regarding information technology systems and operations.

Receives and reviews various records and reports including work requests, memos, etc.

Prepares and/or processes call reports, inventory records, and various other logs, reports, memos, correspondence, etc.

Refers to policy and procedure manuals, computer manuals, technical manuals, equipment specifications, catalogs, etc.

Operates a vehicle and a variety of equipment such as computers, printers, peripheral equipment, servers, fax machine, copier, calculator, telephone.

Uses clerical and computer supplies, small hand and power tools, diagnostic tools, cabling, etc.

Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other department heads, co-workers, other County employees, sales representatives, service providers, and the general public.

Performs general office duties as required, including entering computer data, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, answering the telephone, etc.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Level of Job-Related Education:
Requires a technical college diploma in computer technology / maintenance.

Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience:
Three to four years of experience in computer maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Two IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+ or Network+ required.

Minimum Level of any Required Qualifications, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, or any Relevant Knowledge, Job Skill or Equivalent Experience:
Two IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+ or Network+ required. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $49,327.32 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
