Job Description


The Tax Analyst/Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for all indirect tax activities and supporting the direct income tax compliance function at MAT Holdings and the company’s Domestic subsidiaries. The position will primarily focus on preparing and filing monthly, quarterly, and yearly indirect and direct income tax returns for various entities of the MAT Group in multiple jurisdictions. The position will also support the Income Tax Manager and Tax Director in preparing multiple state and federal income tax work papers and other tax documentation. The role will require interaction with the corporate accounting group and outside service providers.

  • Maintain and update Tax Compliance Calendar to ensure all tax filings are prepared/filed on time.
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual state and local sales and use tax returns, including gathering and compiling reports and work papers.
  • Prepare personal property tax renditions to ensure accurate & timely reporting and filing to take advantage of Freeport exemptions where applicable.
  • Prepare and file unclaimed property renditions, as required by applicable state reporting requirements.
  • Work with an outside consulting firm to ensure all annual reports and business license filings are completed promptly.
  • Assist Tax Management in preparing Federal and State income tax calculations, income tax returns, state apportionment calculations, filing extensions, and estimated tax payments.
  • Track all tax-exempt transactions and maintain copies of all tax-exempt forms.
  • Reconcile monthly indirect tax obligation to collected amounts and ensure accurate general ledger balances.
  • Work with finance teams at various locations on developing a systematic process that will allow for the proper accrual of use tax on fixed assets & other expense items.
  • Resolve tax notices received from state and local tax jurisdictions.
  • Research and conclude on various tax issues to determine the appropriate treatment for multiple problems in the ordinary course of business.
  • Ad-hoc projects, as needed.

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Tax Analyst 1 – 6 years relevant tax experience, Senior Analyst 4 to 6 years relevant indirect and direct income tax experience, public accounting experience preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple work streams and complete tasks within expected deadlines.
  • Familiar with Microsoft suite of product software.
  • Tax research is a plus
  • Knowledge of OneSource tax software is a plus
