Systems Engineer

Essential Functions:

• Develop and maintain complex system architectures for large-scale projects and complex hardware assemblies
• Design, develop, and maintain software applications to support system infrastructure
• Ensure system availability, reliability, and scalability through proactive monitoring and performance tuning
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve system issues and improve system functionality
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system diagrams, user manuals, and standard operating procedures
• Lead project planning and implementation efforts, including resource allocation, risk assessment, and project scheduling
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in systems engineering and identify opportunities to implement them in the organization
• Manage requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle
• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down
• Allocate requirements to subsystem & engineering coordination
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction
• Work with Senior Staff Engineers in developing instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis
• Review and interpret customer specifications effectively
• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems
• Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
• Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
• Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 0-3 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on design, development, and maintenance of complex systems
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead complex projects from planning through implementation
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for systems engineering, including ITIL, ISO, and NIST.
• Has managed requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle
• Familiarity with electronics and systems related to image collection and analysis
• Ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required
• Has developed systems test plans, procedures and reports and reviews and interpreted specifications
• Writing Systems Safety protocols and ensuring personnel safety during field testing
