PURPOSE OF JOB: Operate multiple communication, safety and alarm systems. Handle emergency medical codes and various emergency situations in accordance with departmental and hospital policy and regulations. Facilitate effective communication throughout the Hospital.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Answer all incoming calls and interdepartmental calls to the hospital switchboard / call center according to the policy and procedure. Responds to calls promptly and effectively. Uses appropriate equipment to facilitate call (Beeper/paging system, TDD line, Language Line, Radio Transmitter).
-Has working knowledge of or achieves skills in TDD, overhead page, beepers, teletyping, power failure and digital emergency phones, 2 way radio system/transmitter, computers, Microsoft office (data base-spreadsheet, etc.) codes and or various emergency protocols.
-Administrates/maintains monthly on-call schedules for Physician Practices and Hospital Departments. Daily schedules are generated and distributed to all appropriate personnel.
-Operate Physician Answering Service Line and Heart Center Physician to Physician Consult Line. Provide backup for phone failures that result in Physician answering service interruption.
-Maintain house wide on-call schedules in an immediate and accurate manner (for 42 departments).
-Coordinate daily changes and maintain accurate Physician on-call schedules monthly (for 40 offices). Including daily distribution reflecting changes to 50+ hospital departments.
-Monitor and respond to hospital Security and Fire/Safety Alarm Systems. Log on, monitor and respond to FRED Alert (Facility Resources Emergency Data Base) Respond to Open Sky Transmitter.
-Develop competency in various alarm and emergency notification computer systems (fire, gases, security, etc.)
-Respond in professional manner to all visitor and inquiry issues whenever info desk is not covered by Volunteers. Back up volunteers with direction and guidance when they lack the information to respond.
-Coordinate on 2nd and 3rd shifts a protocol suitable for each Administrative Coordinator to support their working style and to adapt to the needs of the Facility.
-Respond as backup to Health & Wellness Center calls, VIAA calls. Facilitate scheduled conference call and after hours in emergency circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Minimum, High School Degree
Other Skills: Excellent Customer Service Skills
Training time required once hired: 6 months
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
