• Plan and organize personal class teaching outlines, methods and goals that support the general teaching outlines provided by the Fitness & Aquatics Coordinator and the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program.
• Take attendance and is on a first-name personalized basis with class participants.
• Establish positive public relations with parents/guardians of class participants.
• Educates participants/parents to recognize and understand swimming developments and achievements.
• Enforce pool and recreation center rules and regulations.
• Help organize and assist in the development of special programs, activities or instruction completes.
• Work with the Fitness & Aquatics Coordinator on an on-going basis to improve and refine individual teaching skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons to various age groups and various skill levels.
• Perform first aid as needed to assist individuals suffering from injuries; perform water rescues as needed to prevent mishaps and drowning.
  

• At least 16 years of age.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations of aquatics facilities.
• Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification/Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED – the Recreation Center can assist with in-house certifications!
• Swimming instruction techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
