Job Duties/Scope Of Work
Essential job duties of this position include:
  • Supervise and direct ironworker/riggers and crane operators with primary responsibilities in mobile crane operations, rigging, hauling, fabrication, testing and certification of hoisting and rigging equipment, general maintenance of mobile cranes and hoisting and rigging equipment, and scaffold erection/dismantling.
  • May conduct work in burial grounds (e.g., excavations, burials, and tank farms).
  • Ensure compliance with company mandated and other applicable policies, programs, and regulations, including DOE directives, personnel safety, environmental compliance, and safety of the general public.
  • Create and maintain a safe climate that encourages the commitment of all employees to meet or exceed customer needs through continuous improvement of work processes, products, and services.
  • Continually review activities of the group; develop, direct, and monitor implementation of plans for improved efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with technically correct procedures and methods, and within established budget.
  • Coordinate with other support groups and crafts.
  • Receive work orders and work packages, and direct assigned personnel to complete work in a safe manner.
  • Ensure personnel are properly trained and certified to perform assigned work, including periodic retraining.
  • Identify future training requirements and initiate actions to meet these needs.
  • Provide oversight of certification and load testing of lifting devices, slings, yokes, hoists, and chain falls for plant and facilities within the Crane & Rigging Services area of responsibility.
  • Direct complex steel fabrication to include structural steel ladders, platforms, walkways, burial capsules, and lifting yokes.
  • Implement company policy and contractual commitments applicable to bargaining unit personnel.
  • Advise management of potential areas of concern and impacts of proposed policy changes.
  • Perform other duties and activities as directed by Crane & Rigging Field Ops Manager and Crane & Rigging Director.

Basic Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma - or - GED.
  • Directly related and progressive experience in mobile crane/hoisting and rigging operations, and scaffolding erection/dismantling, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role.
  • Good technical knowledge of all aspects of mobile crane and rigging operations and scaffolding is required to help in developing work packages and estimate manpower and material requirements.
  • Ability to read and direct work from blueprints, knowledge of quality control procedures, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), regulations.
  • Keep up to date on environmental/hazardous materials laws and regulations affecting the incumbent's areas of responsibility, new engineering and management concepts, and applicable technological developments.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.

Desired Qualifications
- Work experience directly related to mobile crane operations, hoisting and rigging activities, and scaffolding (preferably hands-on as a craftsperson).
  • Supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Training or experience in radiological work and hazardous materials handling.

Compensation & Benefits
Grade 18: $101,525 - $128,075
Grade 19: $111,588 - $140,663
Grade 20: $122,813 - $154,838
