Job description
Are you looking for a rewarding summer job with a great work schedule? The GB Housing Authority is looking for a seasonal maintenance employee to help with custodial, maintenance and minor repair work.
Pay Rate: $15/hour
Work Schedule: 30 hours per week within the core hours of Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
No residency requirement.

- Assists with general maintenance needs as directed by the lead worker.
- Performs floor care, including sweeping and mopping. Assists with the pickup and disposal of trash. Washes walls, windows and woodwork. Cleans restrooms and performs other cleaning as necessary.
- Cleans and moves furniture, appliances or equipment.
- Changes light bulbs. Changes batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Maintains adjacent grounds by cutting grass, trimming shrubbery, removing litter and other grounds up-keep.
- Re-secures downspouts, window screens, heat vents, etc. Changes broken cover plates. Ensures splash guards are in place.
- Assists lead worker with repairs by providing requested tools or materials.
- Paints or stains areas as needed, such as portions of walls, handrails, shelves, etc.
- Reports malfunctions to leadworker.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience related to maintenance and repair of residential buildings, single family homes and duplexes, grounds, equipment and machinery preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Some knowledge of methods, material, equipment and procedures required for the cleaning, maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities.
- Knowledge of safety measures involved in handling and using tools and hazardous materials.
- Some mechanical aptitude and ability, initiative and resourcefulness in assisting with minor repair and maintenance
- Some skill in the use of common hand tools, materials, and equipment used in building and equipment maintenance.
- Some skill in performing routine manual cleaning or maintenance tasks.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
- Ability to work the required hours of the position.
