Job Description:

Staff Scientist/Biologist – Laramie, WY

Trihydro, one of the top environmental and engineering consulting firms in the country, has an opening for a scientist, biologist, or ecologist in our Closed Facilities team in Laramie, WY. If you have a passion for the outdoors, an interest in restoring natural habitat or improving sensitive ecosystems, we encourage you to apply.

As a staff member, you will support our diverse range of clients in improving human health and the environment by investigating groundwater, surface water, and soil conditions; completing vegetation, wildlife, and T&E surveys; collecting baseline soil and vegetation data; supporting stormwater management needs; and participating in the planning and implementation of habitat restoration projects as well as post restoration monitoring.

Role Requirements:

  • BS degree in ecosystem science, wildlife biology, or a related science field

  • 5+ years of relevant experience including monitoring and data collection (wildlife experience preferred), data management and reporting, and familiarity with environmental regulations (i.e., CWA, NEPA, SMCRA, etc.)

  • Ability to conduct fieldwork in inclement weather or for long hours at a time, with occasional wildlife monitoring after sunset or before sunrise hours

  • Experience driving in off road conditions or using a four-wheel drive vehicle

  • Clean driving record and a willingness to travel independently or as part of a team to remote locations or various project locations within the U.S.

  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to be flexible in the face of quickly changing project schedules

  • Strong technical writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly to clients, regulators, and project team members

  • A commitment to producing high-quality deliverables

  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Word, Excel, Office, and Teams

  • A desire to support a positive safety culture through a dedication to safe work practices

Though not required, candidates with experience in western U.S. wetland delineations, habitat restoration projects, statistical analysis, use of GPS, and familiarity with GIS/CADD applications will have a jumpstart in the role. If you do not have this experience, Trihydro will support you in gaining this experience.

At Trihydro, our approach to work is honest and hard-working. You’ll find a company culture that is dedicated to excellence, nurtures collaboration and growth, and finds time for plenty of fun – often outdoors. Some of the benefits of joining our team include:

  • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision, and prescription)

  • Industry-leading 401(k) retirement plan, including a Trihydro discretionary 6% match

  • Generous paid time off including vacation, flex, sick, and holiday pay

  • Wellness program, including reimbursement for gym membership or similar expenses

  • Staff mentoring and opportunities for professional/career advancement

  • Best-in-class safety culture built to protect our employees—the mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters who deserve to go home safely each night
