Requirements: 1) Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy 2) State Pharmacy License 3) Health system experience preferred 4) Basic Life Support certification (must be obtained within 60 days of hire date)
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire.
Job summary: The Staff Pharmacist fills orders for all medications, monitors patient drug therapies and provides drug information. Staff pharmacists supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacist, the staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of Director of Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacist. Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Ability to evaluate medical literature.
Reporting Relationship: Director of Pharmacy
Physical requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers. May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, and IV solutions and stooping or kneeling (eg. To pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers). Walking or standing for long periods of time (4-12 hours) is often necessary. Employee must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job.
OSHA Task Category Three: There is no anticipated risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed, and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
