JOB SUMMARY
The overall objective and purpose of the Staff Accountant position is to provide support to the Accounting Department. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining general ledger, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable. They are to provide the highest level of service in support of the mission, core values, standards and goals established by the company.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepares monthly summary reports as needed.
- Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and processes for payment.
- Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
- Extracts general ledger information.
- Compiles cost reports and revenue and balance sheets.
- Monitors accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
- Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
- Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
- Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, communicates challenges with managers as needed, and makes corrections.
- Maintain the integrity of the guests’ privacy, including confidentiality of personal information.
- Generates manual check batches and compiles for review and signature
- Communicates with vendors inquiring as to payment status
- Ensure W9s are obtained and updated as needed for all vendors
- Process Monthly accounts receivable intercompany invoices
- Process and maintain Marriott billing - resolving all discrepancies
- Counts daily cash drops and prepares deposit
- Reconciles against PMS and POS Systems
- Communicates with Director of Finance/Managers regarding any issues and discrepancies
- Performs monthly audits of house banks and verifies amounts
- Records and reconciles daily tip reports
- Codes data for input into financial data processing system according to company procedures
- Prepares select month-end journal entries
- Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Verify monthly inventories.
- Assists Director of Finance with projects as needed
- Reconcile and prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain the integrity of Company proprietary information and protect Company assets
- Maintain complete knowledge in the use of all office equipment, property management systems and access according to specifications
- Maintain complete knowledge and comply with company policies and procedures
- Maintain neat, clean and professional appearance according to standards
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures. Report accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions
- Develop and maintain positive working relationship and support the team to achieve our goals
- Attend required training and meetings
- All other duties as assigned, planned or un-planned

- Knowledge of Accounting software, Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
- Ability to utilize and input information from various software systems
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounting functions including job cost
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
- Ability to meet critical deadlines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, License, Certifications, Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting OR equivalent years of experience and education - required
- Minimum two years related experience in similar title and level - required
- Experience within luxury brand/markets – preferred
