We are currently hiring for a Senior Development Director in Northeast Ohio. The Senior Development Director will oversee our Heart Challenge corporate fundraising campaigns in Akron, Canton, Youngstown and Wooster which includes our signature Heart Walk event. The ideal candidate must be local to the Greater Akron area.

This is a fast-paced sales type of position with the main accountability of driving revenue. Competitive salary with incentive potential is offered.

Responsibilities

  • Achievement of the Heart Walk event financial goal(s)
  • Accountability for the implementation of the Heart Walk event based on nationally established best practices.
  • Conduct revenue generation-focused sales calls daily and appropriately document scheduled appointments and results
  • Develop and cultivate mutually satisfying relationships with corporations and top-level donors
  • Utilize consultative approach to match donor interests with American Heart Association mission and priorities
  • Lead volunteer recruitment and engagement. Ensuring the right profile event and executive leadership team chairpersons and other volunteers are recruited and provided effective orientation, training and development and activation
  • Management and oversight of the Heart Walk team, including 1 Development Director and 1 Administrative Associate

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in fundraising or outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity.
  • 1+ years of experience in a management capacity. This experience may occur within the 3-year related experience requirement. Experience gained through direct internal work on American Heart Association projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training. Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations, and similar narrative pieces.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports. Skill in use of spreadsheet/database analysis.
  • Ability to do daily travel up to 75% and overnight travel up to 25.
  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
