Position Overview

The Azure Windows Specialist will be responsible for management and evaluation of Windows environments for the purpose of developing cloud-based infrastructure solutions for customers. This role will be expected to be a self-starter, analytical, and provide leadership for successful project completion.

What you’ll do at Insight

• Monitor performance on all environments (CPU, disk space, etc.) to ensure smooth running of all environments.
• Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems.
• Discussing system and server upgrades with IT managers.
• Installing or upgrading Windows systems and servers.
• Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users.
• Troubleshooting system and server errors.
• Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors
• Manage cloud-based FTP and other forms of file sharing. Backups, restorations and disaster recovery.
• Have an advanced understanding of implementing and supporting Microsoft cloud services, including any of the following:
  • Azure Core Platform (Compute, Storage, Networking)
  • Azure Services
  • Azure AD
  • Azure Automation and CLI
• Have a strong understanding of more “traditional” Microsoft products, such as Windows Server, Windows, IIS, SQL Server, etc.
• Have experience with automation and PowerShell scripting
• Have demonstrated experience executing technical tasks in projects of varying complexity
• Certifications within the Microsoft stack are a plus, but primarily as an avenue to grow our Microsoft partnership and not as a replacement for technical skills
• Exposure to AWS, GCP, and other cloud services is valuable

What you’ll need to join Insight

• BS in Computer Science (or in a related field) or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with information systems technology or industry standard compliance frameworks appropriate to the team function, such as security and security governance and risk compliance, cloud, etc.
• Licenses and/or certifications.
• Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Office (i.e Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
• Must have exceptional communication skills (including written, oral, and presentation) and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate risk, issues, actions, and decisions across all levels of the organization
• Must possess strong analytical skills and display a high-level of troubleshooting competencies.
• Must be able to work independently and can exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

Expertise with more than one project delivery expectations below:

• Ability to analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, and scope business requirements.
• Ability to deliver initiatives from conception through completion.
• Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills, attention to details, proactive self-starter.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.
• Ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions.
• At least two years working as an Azure / Windows engineer.
• Experience migrating database applications from physical servers and VMs to Azure would be an advantage.
• Ability to work to tight timelines.
• Strong proficiency with core Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word).
• Excellent logical and problem-solving abilities. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or mathematics.
• Microsoft training and certification will be considered a strong asset. Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent English communication skills – both verbal and written. Self-motivated and self-directed.
