NOTICE OF INTENT TO EMPLOY

DEPARTMENT: Special Education

POSITION: Summer School - Special Education Teacher

LOCATION: Fruitport Employee, Classroom Location Is Oakridge Lower Elementary SXI

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A valid Michigan teaching certificate and meet state requirements in the area of certification, one of the following endorsements are required (LD, EI or CI).
• Recent teaching experience within an SXI classroom setting preferred
• Understanding of secondary transitional activities and ability to integrate these activities based on individual student needs
• Ability to plan and coordinate community based instructional activities
• Demonstrated success as a collaborator and proven team player
• Knowledge of the “workshop” format of instruction preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of teaching to multiple intelligences
• Ability/willingness to assure student safety in/out of the classroom
• Ability/willingness to assist in toileting and hygiene needs of students
• Ability to lift 75 pounds
• Demonstrated successful communication skills with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community
• Demonstrated successful experience utilizing technology

Summer Dates: June 19-23, June 26-30, August 7-11 and August 14-18

Staff Hours: 8:30am-2pm Monday-Friday with students 9am-1:30pm
