Summary

The incumbent will provide customer service as the integral representation of the Island Spa and its service experiences. Maintaining the facility to represent a clean, clear, and fresh environment for guests to enjoy the amenities.

Supervision Received and Exercised

Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from higher-level staff.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The incumbent will provide consistent attention to the cleanliness of the spa and its locker room facilities. Ensuring locker rooms are kept fully stocked, neat, and free of clutter. Assisting guests with requests and inquiries as to facilities and amenities. Providing information and education on services provided within the spa and its facilities to meet guest expectation and request. Provide concierge-type service to guests for other Island Company activities and products. Work is reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Clean, stock, and organize locker rooms frequently throughout the day.

  • Guide guests from lobby to locker room providing a detailed explanation and the benefits of facilities and amenities. Provide tour of facility as necessitated by guest arrival/service type, explaining the benefits of all amenities

  • Respond and address guest requests as it pertains to facility, amenities, and needs within the locker room; clearly communicate all services provided by the Spa and answer questions and/or explain benefits, differences, and components.

  • Maintain steam, sauna, pool deck and upper deck and all public areas of the Spa in a clean and ready to use condition, free of soiled linen, trash, and dishes with all chairs and relaxation locations set to standard

  • Wash, fold, and stock linens

  • Ensure water and tea bar is stocked

  • Promote and sell retail products, services, and enhancements

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all offerings of Catalina Island Company and promote other Company venues and activities.

  • Multitask to ensure guests are well taken care of while maintaining the facilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Previous customer service related work experience preferred.

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of record-keeping.

  • Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service.

  • Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment and applications.

Ability to:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment, maintain appointment schedules, and proactively identify tasks that need to be done.

  • Provide exceptional guest service

  • Work weekends, nights, and holidays

  • Learn new concepts in the spa industry

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR Certification preferred

Physical Demands

Must possess:

  • Strength, stamina, and mobility to be perform light to medium physical work throughout the entire shift, work around spa equipment, climb and descend stairs, operate a variety of spa tools and equipment.

  • A stimulating position with consistent communications with spa guests. Sometimes stressful with high volume of business

  • Protective equipment as needed

  • Standing, walking, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, speaking, and hearing 60-100% of time

  • Sustained visual and mental concentration 100% of time

  • Repetitive motion 60-100% of time

Environmental Elements

  • Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise levels.

  • Close contact with general public

  • Use of disinfectants, oils, essential oils, fragrances, elevated temperatures

  • Protective equipment (face masks, gloves)

Working Conditions

  • May be assigned an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
