Job description
The ideal candidate would consider themselves a "Jack" of all trades and often find themselves fixing or repairing things for themselves often. This candidate would have a good technical aptitude with general knowledge of electrical, mechanical, & construction. Blueprint reading is not required but would be useful to expand the role. Every day would be different. The morning could bring greasing the fittings on a forklift, equipment, and saws while the afternoon could be operating a machine in the machine shop. Now and again we may need some building maintenance such as changing a light bulb or even the fixture itself. Having your tools would be ideal. A large selection is not needed. If there is not any maintenance to be attended to there is always a need for more hands in our fabrication shop and machine shop. Here we would train you to expand your skill base to excel within the company.
Responsibilities:
- General helper in a machine shop environment
- Facility Maintenance
- Shipping/Receiving
- Use of some power tools
- Small Maintenance upkeep on machines
- Preventive maintenance and basic repairs
- Minor electrical repair
- Minor plumbing repairs
- Shovel snow, and spread ice melt on sidewalks
- Ability to lift 50 pounds periodically
- Willingness to pitch in and work in areas other than strictly repair maintenance
Qualifications:
- Mechanical abilities and experience with general power tools and equipment are required.
- Must be motivated and anxious to learn and advance.
- Transportation and a good driving record are a must.
- Driver's license.
- Able to work overtime. (Rare occasion)
- Must have a basic working knowledge of a wide range of mechanical equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- 2-4 years minimum maintenance work experience, or experience in a similar role
