Hall's Body Shop in Virginia Beach is busier than ever, and we are looking for a Painter's Assistant/Helper to join our team.

This is a Monday-through-Friday position. Pay is based on experience, average is $13/flat rate.

SUMMARY: As a Body Shop Apprentice you are responsible for assisting Body Shop Technicians in repairing damaged vehicle parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.

Summary:
The Painter’s Assistant/Helper will assist in refinishing damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards.

Essential Duties for Body Shop Painter Assistant:

• Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely
• Assists in removal of rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surface
• Assists in masking and protecting parts that are not to be painted or coated
• Assists in filling cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface
• May assist in mixing paint according to specifications
• May assist in painting surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate
• Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas
• Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair
• Keeps work area clean
• Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacture
• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials
• Reports any deviations to management
• Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicle
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.

Qualifications for Body Shop Painter's Helper:
- Interest in building a career in the body shop / collision industry

- Experience in body shop setting preferred
- Valid driver’s license with 2 or fewer moving violations in last 3 years
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Basic MS Office knowledge; computer software, internet proficiency, and general mathematic skills

Experience:

• Auto painting: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• driver's license w/ 2 or fewer moving violations last 3 yrs (Required)
