Summary of Key Responsibilities
As the Shipping Manager you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of personnel engaged in the following activities of a distribution center shipping and receiving department, order fulfillment, order staging, invoicing, replenishment tasking, quality assurance and logistic planning. Must excel at working in a time-sensitive pick and pack environment that is production driven and focused on timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. Makes decisions and solves problems using analytical and judgment skills to identify potential problems and develop appropriate solutions.

- Maintain and communicate standards and practices that guarantee fulfillment accuracy and employee productivity.
- Monitor and adjust staffing levels to ensure the completion of orders within agreed processing standards.
- Recommend, justify and implement system and process enhancements to increase throughput, accuracy and productivity.
- Develop and maintain departmental operating plans, statistics and projections.
- Identify, source and recommend conveyor, pick/pack racking, stocking equipment and other resources that will facilitate improved performance.
- Supervise and organize the direct activities of subordinates and ensure proper utilization of equipment, manpower and materials.
- Inspects department areas to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are maintained to provide clean, safe work areas for employees. Responsible for all safety issues affecting employees, including taking action to minimize risk of injury as needed.
- Continually assesses the quality of operational performance and housekeeping throughout the DC to ensure compliance and maximize performance.
- Selects and develops personnel to ensure an efficient operation that has strong bench strength and is prepared for growth.
- Develop metrics to measure SKU movement and facilitate the layout adjustments of pick bins and processes.
- Responsible for supervising daily shipping activities for Traffic and acting as one of the DC contacts for special requests and problem resolution.
Education
- Preferred Associate's degree (A. A.) or from technical school in business or management related field with 4 -7 or more years experience and/or training in Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills
- Advanced level in Microsoft Excel with proficiency and working knowledge of Word and department specific software packages, including 10 key calculator skills.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, spread sheets, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Technical & Reasoning Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as basic arithmetic, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong project management, data management and decision-making skills.
