The ITIO organization is focused on delivering exceptional, reliable services across 330+ sites around the globe. All this while designing a state-of-the-art cost-effective digital cloud environment within a user centric culture across all the ITIO service teams.

Towards this objective, the ITIO organization is looking for a Infrastructure Engineer III you will need a strong baseline understanding of Azure and AWS technologies, migration projects, and Infrastructure inner connectivity. Familiarity with Oracle OCI environment is a plus.

The Infrastructure Engineer is a hands-on engineering and implementation role working on existing and new applications. You will be working in a hybrid environment (physical and virtual).

Existing applications are being converted from on-prem to cloud hosting (Azure and AWS). The Technical Engineer will determine the changes needed for migrating applications to cloud hosting and participate in the migration effort. You will have the opportunity to design, build, test, maintain, and have a direct and meaningful effect on the digital platform and customer experience. Having a solid foundation of Microsoft Applications will be required. Previously working in a majority Azure or AWS environment is a must! Office365 and VMware will be highly desired. Previous Cloud Migration experience would be highly valued as well.

You will be involved with the development, implementation and continual improvement of network service delivery while serving as a change agent for IT.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Global Hosting Lead, you will have responsibility for the following:

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term cloud capacity needs.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to virtual server configuration, cloud topological diagraming and mapping of interdependencies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Continually assist with the baseline design and implementation of Microsoft Azure or AWS Cloud technologies and concepts to include IaaS, PaaS, Azure ARM templates, Azure Blueprints, and Azure policies
  • Research, design, and implement new technologies and systems to upgrade or replace legacy technologies or systems.
  • Recommend and build policies for cloud deployments such as location, device based, capacity sizing, governance and other criteria.

Operational Management

  • You will work closely with Enterprise Architecture to select, design, develop and implement optimized solutions and practices and be responsible for production readiness and all operational aspects of the new cloud Azure and/or AWS infrastructure and services that will support mission critical Sonoco applications
  • You will partner with the Risk Management and Security team to identify standards and controls, and lead the design, build, and rollout of secured and compliant cloud infrastructure and services to support Sonoco’s mission-critical business applications and workload
  • You will partner with application teams to experiment, design, develop and deliver cloud native solutions and services, and power the digital transformations across business units
  • You will lead the migration, refactor and transformation of existing applications and infrastructure services from physical data centers to Azure and/or AWS
  • You will embrace Infrastructure-as-Code and leverage Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery Pipelines to manage the full cloud service lifecycle from release of cloud service offerings into production through retirement
  • You will build and maintain cloud operations tools for monitoring, notifications, trending, and analysis to achieve efficiency in cloud operations through automation and self-repair utilities
  • You will have a relentless drive for the standardization, simplification and automation of operational workflows and enable self-service for positive customer impact
  • You will partner with Cloud Operation teams to define, create, test, and execute cloud operations procedures
  • You will participate in software and system performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning and demand forecasting
  • You will provide Level 3 support for troubleshooting and services restoration in Production

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 6+ years’ experience in supporting mission-critical infrastructure services and applications in a large, complex IT environment.
  • Microsoft Azure Certification (MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure or equivalent)
  • AWS knowledge/certifications

Knowledge & Experience

  • Hands on experience using the Azure and/or AWS administration portal
  • Mastery experience within Azure or AWS Cloud
  • Mastery experience with migrating on-prem to Cloud
  • Mastery experience with Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019
  • Mastery experience with Office365
  • Expertise implementing solutions in public cloud Iaas/Paas
  • Expertise designing and managing Azure or AWS cloud solutions
  • Expertise in monitoring, administering, troubleshooting and identifying solutions in the hybrid cloud environment.
  • Experience withing Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure including areas of sizing, provisioning, monitoring, and capacity management
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server OS, VMWare, PKI Certificate management, and RADIUS authentication.
  • Proficient experience with Cloud Security
  • Proficient experience with Linux- Redhat, Centos, Debian Distributions
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Applications
  • VMware experience highly desired
  • Oracle Cloud (OCI) and Exadata experience desired
