Senior Staff Accountant, Inventory Accounting
Store Support Center

Salary Range: $57,085.00 - 90,000.00

ONSITE (3 days per week)

We are searching for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant, Inventory Accounting for our Store Support Center, located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA 90040.

Onsite:

Candidates must be able to work in the office 3 days per week.

SUMMARY
The Senior Staff Accountant - Inventory Accounting is responsible for ensuring that all warehouse and store inventory related activity is recorded in accordance with company policy and procedure and in a timely manner and perform related account reconciliations. This is a high visibility position with periodic reporting to the CEO and executive team. Prepares and maintains documentation in support of SOX controls. Works with all departments to provide Inventory Accounting related analysis and assistance. This is a critical reporting role with a high degree of interaction with Finance, Sales & Merchandising and Store Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Reconcile all assigned general ledger accounts and maintain relevant and applicable SOX documentation.
  • Perform daily warehouse activity balancing and billing to stores balancing.
  • Prepare and upload journal entries related to warehouse related activity.
  • Validate and approve daily SCP system (invoice reconciliation) interface to the general ledger
  • Prepare and distribute weekly gross margin analysis reports to upper management.
  • Assist in RMIA (Retail Method of Inventory Accounting) budgeting process.
  • Review Audit Exception report for non-perishable inventories and communicate issues to stores and district managers.
  • Reconcile weekly non-perishable physical inventory balance to book balance (RMIA) and make necessary physical inventory adjustments for both banners including adjustment of estimated shrink accrual.
  • Scrub and reconcile perishable physical inventory data each period and work with stores/district managers to resolve any issues.
  • Reconcile periodically perishable physical inventory balance to book balance (RMIA) and make necessary physical inventory adjustments for both banners including adjustment of estimated shrink accrual.
  • Maintain various Excel models utilized for inventory accounting and gross margin reporting.
  • Prepare documentation required to support key SOX controls.
  • Assist Manager of Inventory Accounting in period end closing and store margin related issues
  • Assist in annual and interim audits performed by external auditors including SOX control execution and documentation.
  • Provide back-up assistance for selected tasks within the Inventory Accounting department.
  • Perform other tasks or special projects as needed or requested.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience, and two-three years related experience and/or training.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
