Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, General Ledger, the Senior Staff Accountant will be a key member of the EG America Finance team responsible for accounting activities related to the general ledger operations. General duties include (but are not limited to) the development, improvement, implementation and maintenance of General Ledger processes to ensure accurate and timely accounting and analysis of accounting information.


This position requires proficiency in Excel and general ledger software. Must be organized, detail oriented and comfortable working with large data sets. Must be able to communicate well and collaborate with other team members.


EG America is a convenience store operator with nearly 1,700 company owned and operated locations across the United States. EG America’s store support center is located in Westborough, MA.


Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Prepare general journal entries
  • Analyze accrual and prepaid trends
  • Assist with month-end allocation process
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Develop executive summaries for key accounts
  • Maintain daily Oracle interfaces and key translation tables
  • Complete monthly straight-line adjustment calculations for tenant rents
  • Aid in the maintenance of the month-end close portals
  • Ensure completeness of monthly close activities by monitoring journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by other departments in Finance
  • Maintain existing chart of accounts; ensure compliance with all Company accounting policies
  • Collaborate with non-finance departments/cross-functional teams
  • Identify areas for improvement and assist with implementation, as appropriate
  • Assist with “First-Level-Review” of other team-member deliverables, as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
  • Review all inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary


Team member responsibilities are carried out in accordance with documented company policies and procedures. The above is accomplished collaboratively, but provides opportunities for independent decision-making.


Working Relationships:
This position will work closely with all Finance Teams and other key business segments/cross-functional teams.


Requirements & Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Bachelor degree (Accounting), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Preferred Education:

Minimum Experience: 4+ years of accounting experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Retail industry experience
  • Strong practical knowledge of MS Excel and other Microsoft applications
  • Thorough understanding and application of U.S. GAAP or IFRS
  • Experience with Oracle ERP and reporting tools
  • Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
  • CPA or Master’s track applicants are preferred

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment
