About Smithfield Foods:
As a member of the Workflow Automation team, the objective of this role is to support the central administration of the ServiceNow platform, to develop and continually improve the functionality of applications hosted on that platform, to provide end-user support and to conduct problem investigations to resolve functional issues. The role also supports the management, governance and architectural design of the platform to ensure a seamless operation of the entire system. The Senior ServiceNow Developer mentors and provides guidance to other developers within the team and is responsible for leading product upgrades and the evaluation of new platform functionality in collaboration with all key stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities:
- Acts as a subject matter expert with a strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform including, but not limited to, ITSM, Configuration Management, SecOps, Event Management, Service Mapping, Application Development, etc.
- Develops and maintains ServiceNow platform applications, custom applications and integrations with external systems.
- Identifies system deficiencies, recommends solutions and participates in ongoing production support.
- Partners with product owners, process owners, and other business leaders to build solutions on the ServiceNow platform.
- Elicits requirements from IT and the Business regarding the design of new functionality hosted on the ServiceNow platform and estimates development effort for those requirements.
- Develops and documents technical designs that properly support and balance sometimes competing consumer requirements.
- Performs code reviews to ensure that the quality expectations are met with regards to coding standards, integrations, extensibility, and security.
- Keeps up to date with industry trends and new ServiceNow offerings to maximize value received from the platform.
- Acts as a lead and architect for solutions on the ServiceNow platform.
- Provide technical leadership to develop, build and maintain the Configuration Management System (CMS), the Event Management system, the Service Catalog and other baseline and custom applications.
- Takes on-going training and evaluates training options for their own role and for other team members.
- See themselves as part of the greater whole in meeting or exceeding business objectives on a regular basis, as well as assistance in driving key initiatives.
- Regularly reviews license compliance and ensures that the license investment is utilized in the most efficient way possible.
- Collaborates effectively with other ServiceNow team members to develop solutions and handle general updates and configuration changes and requests.
- Participates in projects and support issues associated with ServiceNow applications, liaising with appropriate IT departments as well as associated vendors.
- Provides appropriate IT associates with technical training, support and secondary documentation for ServiceNow applications.
- Continually reviews the efficiency and effectiveness of the ServiceNow platform and applications.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or related field and 5+ years of direct experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- With 2+ years of experience with configuring and developing IT systems
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow best practices
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience with JavaScript development is required
- Experience with web development technologies like HTML and standard libraries like Angular.js etc. is required
- Experience with ITIL methodology a plus
- Proficient using MS Office products
