JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Security Officer protects life and property of all persons on hospital premises. Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and violent acts. Secures, unlocks and protects hospital buildings and property. Responds to security needs of hospital personnel, patients and visitors.

- Patrols facility. (EF)

- Controls crowds. (EF)
- Responds to emergency codes. (EF)
- Enforces parking and traffic policy. (EF)
- Secures patient valuables. (EF)
- Investigates incidents and creates reports. (EF)
- Performs lost and found duties.
- Transports deceased patients. (EF)
- Monitors disturbances, thefts, vandalism and assaults. (EF)
- Assists with combative patients. (EF)
- Utilizes de-escalation techniques with combative patients and visitors. (EF)
- Responsible for maintaining work schedules. (EF)
- Ensures all security officers adhere to policies and procedures. (EF)
- Makes suggestions and recommendations to Security Manager.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Security Manager.
- Leads security personnel in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. (EF)
- Assists with scheduling dept meetings and training sessions. (EF)
- Implements department policies and procedures. (EF)
- Assists in the completion of evaluations. (EF)
- Assists with interviews and recommends applicants. (EF)
- Ensures that all department reports are completed. (EF)
Hospital:
- Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Performs within his/her professional Scope of Practice at all times.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Associates degree or higher in related field
EXPERIENCE
Required: At least three (3) years of healthcare security experience or equivalent
Preferred: Previous supervisory experience
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required: Must have effective communication skills; Knowledge of computers and writing reports; Able to effectively supervise other security officers
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required: Private Security Officer License and/or IAHSS Certification; Valid driver’s license
