SENIOR RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research-Yaffe Lab, to study-with supervision from a senior lab member-novel immunologic and inflammatory mediators of lung cancer progression using an array of biologic assays and in vivo mouse tumor studies. Responsibilities include assisting with basic laboratory experiments using standard techniques, including tissue culture, developing and maintaining mouse tumor models, delivery of novel anti-cancer therapeutics into mice and target tumors, molecular cloning, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, next generation DNA/RNA sequencing and phosphoproteomic assays, and other biochemical/molecular assays; assisting with evaluating research methods/procedures/techniques based on established objectives; adjusting basic experimental protocols to ensure timely project completion; modifying and/or developing protocols/procedures/techniques/applications of technology; analyzing and documenting results; resolving routine problems; proofreading articles for publication; documenting experimental results/research findings; and assisting with administrative and technical operations, including ordering/maintaining supplies, overseeing vendor relationships and equipment maintenance, maintaining lab calendar/directories/mailing lists, and assisting with planning meetings.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; exposure to a research laboratory; experience conducting and applying online research to projects; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfort analyzing, summarizing, and reporting results to researchers; commitment to exceeding quality standards and producing accurate, high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; and ability to follow safety procedures, maintain a safe work environment, and work independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree in related field; working knowledge of general laboratory practices/procedures; experience with mouse cancer models, signal transduction biochemistry, and relevant molecular biology and cell culture techniques; wet lab experience; understanding of safety policies/procedures; knowledge of basic cancer biology; and experience collaborating with a diverse group of researchers/trainees.
