Job Title: Senior Park Aide

This position is full-time, year-round.
The Senior Park Aide positioned at Rockport State Park within the Salish Foothills Area will serve in a leadership role that is key in providing excellent service to our visitors by ensuring the park is clean and safe for all people to enjoy and remember for generations. Rockport attracts a wide range of users who enjoy hiking through Old Growth Forests or who are wanting to take a walk through the old, closed campground to relive or build new memories.

Under the supervision of a Park Ranger, this position is essential to Washington State Park's mission of operating, enhancing, interpreting and protecting our park's recreational, cultural, historical and natural sites. This position assists with the aforementioned mission and related tasks, and serves as a lead, training park aide and volunteer staff in daily operations and routine maintenance of the park. The Senior Park Aide may also lead Park Aide staff and volunteers in task delegation and other communication.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Leads Park Aides and volunteers.
- Provides on-site training in park routines and procedures.
- Communicates assignments to Park Aides and volunteers.
- Cleans and performs maintenance on campsites, picnic sites, trails and roads.
- Maintains park lawns using a mower, weed eaters, trimmers and various other tools. This includes cleaning the equipment, fueling and maintaining, recording use and reporting any problems.
- Cleans and performs maintenance on all park buildings including restrooms using various cleaning compounds and supplies. Cleans toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, walls, fixtures, doors and building exteriors.
- Performs daily campground registration tasks, including use of Camis reservation system.
- Develops and presents interpretive programs.
- Completes and assists with administrative duties as needed; to include daily reconciliation of funds collected, monthly equipment reports, Monthly Resource Usage (MRU) reports, etc.
- Participates in agency training requirements and follows uniform standards.
- Collect revenue; prepare bank transmittals and deposits.
- Provide Park information to visitors and answer park phone.
REQUIRED:
- Twelve (12) months of experience in building maintenance or grounds keeping, or performing semi-skilled/general carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.
- Six (6) months cumulative experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent).
- Twelve (12) months experience in a special employment program (Washington Conservation Corps) with a parks agency. A combination of experience (WCC and Park Aide) may be used provided candidate has at least three months experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent).
- A valid unrestricted driver's license (other than corrective lenses).
- At least 18 years old.

UNIFORM INFORMATION:
All permanent Senior Park Aides are required to wear a uniform. A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of a Senior Park Aide and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks' employee. This position will receive 4 shirts within the first year (2 shirts per calendar year after year 1), 1 jacket (per 5 calendar years), 1 baseball cap, a clothing stipend of $150.00 per calendar year, and a boot stipend of $150.00 per 2 calendar years. Stipends are intended to offset the cost of clothing worn in the workplace such as pants, boots, raingear, etc.
