Job Summary: This role manages and directs decision making, reviews, analysis, recommendations, process improvement, and policy implementation of technical accounting topics. This position oversees and provides leadership to the technical accounting team and will work closely with Cubic's operating segment financial management and senior corporate financial management. Strong communication skills and in depth experience with US GAAP are essential for this role. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority with potential significant impact to the organization.
Job Details:
**Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting is a remote position within the Controller's organization.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the Company's revenue recognition and policy creation to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
- Provides leadership, guidance and company-wide coordination on technical accounting matters.
- Interacts and advises senior Cubic management by serving as a subject matter expert on complex accounting issues including revenue recognition and other transactions with potential significant impact to the organization.
- Works with subsidiary financial management to make operating segment revenue recognition decisions and improve financial reporting and accounting processes. Designs and implements improvements in processes and documentation regarding revenue recognition and other related matters.
- Prepares analysis regarding revenue and cost of sales recognition issues.
- May participate on operating segment bid and proposal teams to identify potential accounting considerations and remediation alternatives.
- Performs on-site education regarding revenue recognition issues to cost accountants, contract administrators, and program management.
- Performs occasional site-visits to international and domestic locations in researching accounting for new contracts, emerging product lines, acquired businesses, and reviewing ongoing revenue accounting on long-term contracts.
- Supervises and leads revenue recognition analyses and other areas of responsibility necessary for the audit of Cubic's financial statements and its system of internal accounting controls over financial reporting.
- Advises senior Cubic Management and provides financial analysis of possible acquisitions, divestures, major capital expenditures or other specific projects, as required.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Four-year college degree or higher in Accounting, Business or related field, plus ten years of related work experience in US GAAP and SEC requirements, including heavy experience in revenue recognition and technical accounting matters
- Significant Big Four Public Accounting experience with SEC clients required
- Strong Technical Accounting background, specifically revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial footnote reporting
- Active CPA license or CIA required
- US citizen
- Must have the ability to interface with all levels of professionals, and management across the Company.
- Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on maintaining excellent and accessible documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a dedication to providing quality service
