Responsibilities: To support H-E-B Partners, Customers, and third-party stakeholders, our Enterprise Safety Team ensures issuance and administration of corporate safety training, policies, and programs.

As a Senior Human Factors Engineer, you'll be assigned to a Division, supporting corporate objectives related to cost reduction and containment in safety and injury prevention. You'll provide design and technical assistance, consulting support, trend analysis, development / facilitation of training initiatives, and implement safety and accident prevention programs to ensure a safe place to work and shop.

What is the work?
Safety / Investigating / Auditing:
  • Applies specialized knowledge in human factors / ergonomics engineering, safety standards, OSHA standards, NFPA regulations, human factors, and local, state, and federal safety and health policies to safety and injury prevention in assigned Division(s)
  • Communicates / collaborates with Facility, Regional, and Division leaders on ergonomics and safety management in all areas of respective operations
  • Reviews / designs job tasks to effectively manage physical demands with sound ergonomic principles
  • Coordinates with on-site medical services to review injury exposures for ergonomic root causes, change management
  • Supports Enterprise Safety staff in their daily safety responsibilities
  • Provides support to complex work injury investigations for litigation defense
  • Supports OSHA serious injury procedures, specifically for investigation and root cause analysis
  • Supports industrial ergonomics assessments and safety reviews of division facilities; ensures compliance of OSHA, NFPA, and related local, state, and federal policies, standards, and guidelines

Training / Mentoring:
  • Supports Divisional and Regional Safety Advisors / Specialists and Safety Trainers in their daily work; specifically emphasizes knowledge related to human factors and ergonomics
  • Coaches / trains management and Partners in OSHA and federal policies, standards, guidelines, and safety initiatives, best practices, and safe behaviors
  • Coaches / trains Partners on information related to human factors and ergonomic exposures to minimize risk of body mechanics-related injuries

What is your background?
  • A related degree or comparable professional licensing or certification
  • 5+ years of experience in retail or industrial ergonomics safety
  • Experience applying anthropometric data
  • Experience in ergonomic assessment tools and strategy
  • Professional Safety / Ergonomics / Engineer certification / license
  • Valid Texas driver's license

Do you have what it takes to be a Senior Human Factors Engineer at H-E-B?
  • Strong working knowledge of the application of standards / regulations of OSHA and federal safety and health policies and the application of ergonomics principles
  • Strong understanding of human factors science, theories, models, and research methodologies and anthropometric data
- Strong PC usage skills (software, systems, H-E-B network)
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching / mentoring skills
  • Strong verbal / written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and decision-making skills
  • Strong project management skills; attention to detail
- Bi-lingual (English - Spanish) skills (preferred)
  • Ability to drive for results while maintaining collaborative relationships at all levels
  • Ability to deliver presentations to various audiences
