Job description

The candidate will be responsible for leading/executing analytical studies and consulting assignments with a focus on transmission planning and generation interconnection. The candidate is expected to also provide support on proposal development and commercial team for new business opportunities. Work location: remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing power system models and performing analytical studies, including, but not limited to, power flow, dynamic stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transient studies.

Performing various transmission planning, generation interconnection, and reliability compliance studies for ISOs/RTOs, renewable developers, and utilities.

Interpreting and applying industry standards and requirements including NERC, FERC, IEEE, IEC standards, and international power market processes and regulations.

Documenting and communicating results effectively to internal and external stakeholders including report writing and summary presentations.

Self-starting and working as a project team member or leader

Attending and presenting at major industry conferences and committees on transmission planning, smart grid, microgrid, and energy storage applications, among others.

Supporting business development efforts by writing proposals for future opportunities.

TECHNICAL AND COMMERICAL ATTRIBUTES

Experience in modeling and studies involving inverter-based generation resources.

Experience with power system analysis software, such as PSS/E, PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, ASPEN, DIgSILENT Power Factory.

Experience in the use of common programming languages (e.g., Python) for automating study processes and result analysis.

Experience in geomagnetic induced current (GIC) and harmonics studies is a plus.

Experience with economic analysis tools (e.g., PROMOD, PLEXOS, GRIDVIEW, MAPS) is a plus.

Knowledge of power system protection theory and applications is a plus.

Experience in performing studies for distribution systems is a plus

Business development experience is a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.

BSEE from an accredited university required or at least 5-10 years of industry experience, or MSEEE plus at least 5 years or Ph.D. with at least 3 years of experience

Academic background in electrical power systems

Experience with transmission system planning, power system modeling, renewable energy resource modeling, and power system simulation software
