Senior Director, Supply Chain Operations (Acute) - Remote

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Tenet Healthcare is searching for a Sr. Director to support the acute hospital supply chain operations business. The candidate must have healthcare materials management experience. This position directs and implements national and regional purchasing agreements, processes, contracts, and materials management initiatives. This position will report to Tenet’s VP Supply Chain and Procurement. The candidate will have responsibility for the entire acute supply chain operation function. These facilities encompass approximately 60 hospitals, local warehouses and supported distribution. Approximately 20% travel is required.
- Supporting cost savings objectives and implementing Best Practices in support of budgeted procurement and productivity initiatives. This scope includes med surge, Pharma as well as purchased services and OCE.
- Analyzing financial information and implementing strategic solutions to meet budgeted case cost and EBITDA targets
- Accountable for purchased services efficiencies including cost and operational optimization, insource/outsource decision input, as well as efficiency opportunity identification and implementation.
- Managing market compliance to Tenet and GPO national contracts and optimize Tier compliance and management
- Providing focused prioritization and support for the implementation of new contracts, contract conversions, and procurement initiatives
- Actively participate in vendor QBRs and vendor management of key procurement vendors
- Overseeing capability and assessment of materials management personnel and transition support to include system transition, contract conversions, and personnel training.
- Ensuring staff performs Materials Management Operational Reviews, audits and monitoring on purchasing and inventory control processes within all Markets.
- Work with hospital partner to align with objectives for the management of non-GPO related categories.
- Standardize and develop system-wide policies and procedures for key Supply Chain processes
- Define enterprise supply chain operational strategies (standard processes, approaches, best practices)
- Support and execute governance structure for Supply Chain and Clinical Teams
- Contract interpretation/support and Standard processes, reports, communication, action
- Train Market Directors of Procurement as well as DMMs on concepts, policies, best practices across markets/facilities, procedures etc
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the Materials Management functions within Acute, to include purchasing, inventory management, distribution of supplies, management and tracking of suppliers and capital equipment.
- Research and evaluate products/services and supplier performance in support of existing and/or new contracts.
- Ensure the gathering, interpret, and analyze data from various systems to:
- Determine budget issues and savings opportunities
- Lead discussions and meetings to determine conversion opportunities
- Implement Savings opportunities and measure results
- Recommend and/or adjust procedures relative to Materials Management practices
- Oversight of the development and preparation of reports and presentations based on usage statistics, purchasing trends, marketing data and savings relative to competitive bidding and national agreements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with various HQ departments and levels throughout Tenet and vendor organizations.
- Drive savings and improve Tenet’s financial performance through contract negotiation, process improvements, strategy recommendations, and the implementation of existing GPO and Tenet contracts.
- Supply Chain meetings to provide value, vision and strategy to managed facilities around purchasing and materials management activities
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Required:
- Acute care hospital procurement knowledge
- Excellent understanding of healthcare supplies
- Ability to communicate and align with various functions including clinical, physician, facility and GPO
- Experience in driving value through rebates and tier level contract negotiation required
- 5-10 years healthcare materials management experience with at least 5 years supervisory experience
- Excellent analytical skills required, results driven
- Knowledge of healthcare purchasing, inventory management systems, procurement, supplies distribution/operations and contracting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, Strong problem solving skills.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Product Suite.
Preferred:
- Acute Care Hospital procurement knowledge strongly preferred
- Strong negotiation skills
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, procurement, or health care administration. MBA strongly preferred
