We’re looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide pragmatic legal advice, counsel and representation to the organization, reporting to the Vice President, Legal. Assist with compliance and risk management activities for the organization.

What you will do in this role

• Provide accurate, pragmatic and timely advice to business leaders on a variety of legal topics that relate to the company business and product.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts and agreements.
• Manage internal contract review and retention process and systems
• Provide input on internal governance policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business. Promote legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company.
• Remain up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect our business and industry.

What you’ll need for this role

• Education: J.D. degree. MA in Business Administration or related field will be considered an asset
• 5-7+ years legal practice in corporate commercial law with proven general counseling experience in a business environment.
• Prior experience as in-house counsel strongly preferred.
• Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, contracts, etc.) Working knowledge in commercial compliance, privacy, licensing, and regulatory matters a plus.
• In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations
• Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives with a business and solutions-oriented mindset
• Well-versed in how businesses operate, baseline financial acumen.
• High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas
• Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to “see around the corner”
• Excellent judgement and analytical skills
• Excellent writing skills. Must be able to summarize complex issues in a clear, succinct, and accurate manner.
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, engage resources and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experienced team leaders, with demonstrated experience in talent development.
• Expertise in Microsoft suite and Contract Management Systems.
• Limited travel.
