The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently accepting applications for a facility Security Guard.

The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We are located just 5 miles west of New York City in the beautiful water front City of Perth Amboy. The YMCA is dedicated to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities through programs that develop the values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. We devotedly serve over 5,000 community participants and families in our community building initiatives.

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure facility for members, visitors, and staff; assuring that all persons entering the building are authorized to do so. The Security Guard will be alert at all times with the ability to identify potential security issues and handle them in an efficient and timely manner. The Security Guard will also embrace the YMCA core values of Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, Respect, and Faith.

Essential Duties include:

• Verify that all restricted areas are locked for the safety of members and staff.
• Continuous monitoring of security camera system.
• Monitor/walk thru of locker rooms, steam room, and sauna as requested.
• Assist front desk staff and/or custodial staff with cleaning common areas and grounds as needed.
• Assist in the set up/clean-up of special events as requested.
• Assist staff to monitor and assure members and guest adhere to the Y’s Code of Conduct.
• Report any deficiencies and suggest specific corrective action to management.

• High School Diploma.
• 2 yrs. or more of related experience.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Strong communications skills, with the ability to carry out instructions independently.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
