Job description
School-based Psychotherapist will: Provide short-term high-quality direct services, including crisis intervention, psychotherapy, assessment, support services and follow-up to at-risk children and adolescents and their families. Services provided primarily in person with option of virtual services in limited circumstances
  • Coordinating intervention strategies with school personnel and other involved behavioral health agencies. Program therapists will actively participate in all relevant meetings and events, including guidance counselor and social worker meetings, IEP/504 meetings, parent meetings and student behavioral health care discussions with district team members.
  • Screening, referral and case management activities to help youth access relevant services
  • Assisting with the evolution of an effective, efficient preventive services program
  • Facilitating short-term services on behalf of students, family members, school personnel, or the community-at-large in response to a crisis or tragic events.
  • Participating in public information and public relations activities, serving as a community liaison and advocating for mental health and the Upper Arlington School District
  • Coordinating and collaborating with other child-serving systems
  • Maintaining data and documentation to track outcome measures and assisting in compiling outcome measure reports. Completing all paperwork associated with the financial, clinical, legal or regulatory management of the students’ behavioral health care or Upper Arlington City School operations in a timely and accurate manner
Conduct a minimum of three annual public education events provided to district stakeholders. Psychotherapist will work with district administrators to create the topics and content and to determine the target audience for each event.
  • Create of an explanatory pamphlet and/or information packet(s) outlining available behavioral health services for students, to be provided to district parents or stakeholders upon request.
  • Create informative content for Upper Arlington City Schools website(s) and/or social media platforms outlining services provided, as well as blogs, posts or related information containing helpful hints or relevant topics for students.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling or related field; Independent Ohio license to practice (i.e., LISW or LPCC) is required. A minimum of two years of experience working with patients with mental illness and/or substance use disorders is also required. Experience and/or training in at least one evidence-based psychotherapy modality (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy) is preferred.


Ongoing: Maintain licensure(s), credentials, and CBLs. Practice within the parameters of the Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board, Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board. Training in at least one evidence-based psychotherapy modality (e.g., cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal psychotherapy) will be required.
