Job description
The Safety Ambassador is responsible for promoting safety of clients and staff by providing security and necessary intervention to respond to and help de-escalate crisis situations. CommuniCare Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing comprehensive patient-centered primary care services including medical, dental, substance use treatment, behavioral health and outreach services to the low income, diverse, uninsured and underinsured in the communities we serve.
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday Friday. Regular evening and weekend work may be required. Will work at all sites; primary assignment at Hansen Family Health Center in Woodland. Travel required dependent upon business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Utilize verbal de-escalation skills during crisis intervention.
- Connect and build rapport with clients in crisis.
- Visit waiting rooms regularly to assist clients when possible.
- Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; inspect buildings, equipment, and access points; permit entry.
- Obtain help when necessary by calling codes, calling 911 or emergency personnel, and/or by sounding alarms.
- Provide supervised urine analysis for clients enrolled in outpatient substance use programs.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses.
- Assist clients, patients, vendors, and/or contractors with finding their way within the clinic.
- Serve as an information resource for clients, patients, vendors and/or contractors needing assistance.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; inform violators of policy and procedures.
- Regularly check bathrooms and makes sure they are clean and stocked.
- Responsible for helping to maintain the entire property in an attractive, comfortable condition.
- Assist with trash pickup on the property
- Regularly patrol parking lot to ensure vehicles are secure.
- Regularly patrol parking lot and assist clients/patients as needed.
- Maintain a safe environment by reporting facility safety concerns to appropriate staff.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum two years experience working directly with the public. Knowledge/experience working in clinics that provide substance use and/or mental health services preferred.
Special Skills/Equipment: Must possess de-escalation and crisis intervention skills. Must have knowledge or the ability to learn motivational interviewing, de-escalation techniques and mental health first aid. Must provide proof of current drivers license and auto insurance.

Attendance and punctuality is essential. Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team. Ability to think critically, analyze and respond appropriately to hazards/hazardous situations. Expected to have proven strong interpersonal skills and can understand, follow and provide (when necessary) written/verbal instructions. Able to work independently with motivation and little or no supervision. Required to have the ability to work effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and with external customers.

Lifting and carrying of supplies/equipment up to 25 pounds is required. Vision and hearing is required. Work is performed in a typical clinic environment with moderate equipment noise. Travel to all agency sites required.
Requires a moderate to high level of mobility, dexterity, and flexibility in order to perform essential functions. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk, and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Work is performed in typical office and clinic environments with moderate equipment noise. Regular travel to all agency sites required. COMPLETED COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIRED.
PAY RATE
- The pay range for this position is $17.68/hr.-$23/hr. Starting pay within this range will vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
- May be eligible for annual 2% + 0-2% merit-based pay adjustment (0-4%).
