Overview

Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community’s well-being our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement.

Responsibilities

Medical Acute is a 37 bed combination unit that includes 3 private rooms. Medical Acute is divided into two sides with one side focused on patients with medical-surgical diagnoses including chronic congestive heart failure diabetes cellulitis kidney failure alcohol and chemical dependencies respiratory and asthma exacerbations pneumonia and failure to thrive. This side is supported by Patient Care Tech’s. The other half of our unit is dedicated to our behavioral patient population which include those experiencing alcohol dependencies and withdrawals and mental illnesses including schizophrenia bipolar suicidal and homicidal tendencies. This side has Patient Care Techs who support as well as Mental Health Techs for support for our behavioral patients. Unit staffing consists of 4:1 RN ratio for telemetry patients and 5:1 RN ratio for Medical Surgical patients. We have a strong multidisciplinary team consistently involved in the care and well-being of our patients and consists of case management social services physical therapists and psych MD’s. This unit is very fast paced and can be challenging but offers a wide variety of experiences and opportunities to enhance your professional career and development.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
      • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
    • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
    • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
    • BLS certification - American Heart Association
    • Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided
    • Ability to:
    • Deliver excellence in patient care through assessing, formulating nursing diagnoses and establishing goals, planning and implementing intervention, and evaluating patient care outcomes.
    • Read, analyze, and interpret hospital policies and procedures, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Write reports and procedures, and document in the medical record.
    • Effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, patients, physicians, family members and the general public.
    • Calculate figures and amounts such as weights, dosages, flow rates, proportions, percentages and volume.
    • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Critically think and problem solve.
    • Read, write and speak English.
    • Must be able to complete entire program with a perfect attendance record
    • Must be able to work 3 days per week after completing first 12 weeks
    • Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays
    • Must agree to terms and conditions of the program

Pay Range
$63.38 - $76.97 /hour
