Research Support Specialist
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s Degree of Medicine (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience in Medical Chemistry and/or Medical Immunology. Training in developing mouse toxicology study models. Experience in cell culture, PCR, Western Blot, Flow Cytometry analysis, ELISA, Immunofluorescence staining, transfection, mouse handling.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Toxicology. Training in Health Statistics software such as SPSS for Toxicology research. Training in experimental skills dissecting mice, making frozen tissue sections, surgical collection and surgical procedures.
Brief Description of Duties:
Within defined test or analytical protocols, operate equipment, carry out test procedures, as well as collate and interpret data using special methods (described above) in support of research projects studying the mechanism of chemical carcinogenesis using cell culture and mouse models for PI's in the Department of Pathology and the Cancer Center.
The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Must demonstrate professional competence in research activities.
- Conduct experiments; provide technical laboratory support, and/or animal handling to assist with experiments conducted.
- Collect data, detect, record and validate observations and measurements and prepare reports for review of supervisor and or PI.
- Perform literature search; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and/or PI.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
