Overview:
The research assistant will be working on computer vision advancements that enable the creation of effective public policy governing the use of these models. Concretely, they will assist with ongoing research projects in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) fairness, explainability and trustworthiness. They will be given an opportunity to engage with the researchers at the Center for IT Policy, including attending seminars, presenting their work, and leading potential research collaborations.

Responsibilities:
Research & Collaboration

The research assistant would participate in computer vision and machine learning research projects in the lab. The tasks would include implementing the algorithms, running experiments on the compute cluster, analyzing the results, and presenting findings. The assistant would work closely with other lab members including graduate students, research scientists and the PI.

Lab Participation/Service Roles

The research assistant would contribute to the operations of the lab, including participating in lab meetings, taking on service roles (such as organizing the lab meeting or the reading group as needed), or provide feedback to other lab members on their paper drafts.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications

  • BSE/AB degree in public policy and/or computer science
  • Familiarity of computer vision at the level of an undergraduate computer vision class (e.g., COS429 at Princeton)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of public policy, including the history of technology governance
  • Ability to communicate with diverse interdisciplinary audiences, including computer scientists and policy makers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior research experience
  • Knowledge of Princeton systems a plus
