The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 3 years.
The option to extend the contract for 3 more years is given.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a part-time position (75 % of the standard weekly hours for full-time employees).
We offer the possibility to get a full-time position after a certain time of taking on responsibility (e.g. project management).
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.

Unser Profil

The Institute for Future Energy Consumer Needs and Behavior (FCN) at RWTH Aachen, directed by the Chair of Energy Economics and Management (Prof. Madlener), offers two research positions in the field of energy economics.

The institute specializes in applied theoretical and empirical research in energy economics and policy, with a particular focus on consumer needs and behavior, new business models and market design in the energy sector, and the adoption and diffusion of innovative technologies. The research focus is complemented by the areas of environmental, regional and behavioral / experimental economics. The Chair is affiliated to both the AACSB-accredited School of Business and Economics and the interdisciplinary E.ON Energy Research Center at RWTH Aachen University.

Ihr Profil

Prerequisite for a successful application is a University degree (Master or equivalent) in economics or a related field (incl. engineering economics). We expect a solid knowledge in microeconomics and / or macroeconomics and applied econometrics and / or statistics, and experience with data handling or programming is essential.

On the personal skills level we expect a high level of motivation, capacity for teamwork, interest in interdisciplinary research, above-average analytical skills, creativity, and an excellent command of the English language as well as, ideally, also of the German language.

Ihre Aufgaben

Successful candidates will be involved in the institute's research projects and teaching activities. You will in particular contribute to ongoing FCN research on either smart grids, smart homes, e-mobility market design, energy policy energy market modeling, spatial energy analysis, and sustainable (energy) prosumer / user innovation studies.

Additional career advancement (e.g. PhD degree, habilitation) is explicitly welcomed and supported. We offer intensive counseling/supervision in terms of elaborating scientific publications, work of both academic and practical relevance in a young and international research team and, if applicable, the chance for a timely completion of the doctoral studies.
