The role of the RN will include clinical administration and oversight of ketamine infusions as well as patient relationship development and care coordination.

We treat patients who have depression, PTSD, mood conditions (anxiety, bipolar mood disorder, OCD), chronic pain (migraine pain, neuropathic pain), and possible opioid use disorders.

Your primary responsibility will be managing our IV Ketamine Treatments where you will deliver IV infusions on numerous patients throughout the day and monitor patients before, during, and after treatment.

We are looking for RN's who are very confident in their IV abilities, but importantly who are team players and want to contribute towards significant improvement in the lives of patients.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Start IV lines
  • Obtains IV medications and sets up infusion pumps with appropriate units and/or rates for each medication, specific to each patient per protocol. Initiates and maintains IV infusions.
  • Closely monitors patients including their sedation level, blood pressure and pulse, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and possible side effects and assists them with their overall comfort.
  • Guide patients through mindfulness exercises between infusions
  • Collaborate with the rest of the clinical team
  • Take excellent notes
  • Provides compassionate nursing care to patients, comfortable with possible long-term clinical relationships with patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and under the supervision of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Nurse Practitioner (DNP, APRN)
  • Facilitation of regular communication among patients, clinic practitioners, mental healthcare providers (therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, primary care physicians), and other health care providers.
  • Ability to access ports, PICC lines and start IV's.
  • Oversee infusion schedules and maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Effectively and promptly treats any side effects from a patient's treatment including changes in their central nervous system (hallucinations, delirium, anxiety, headaches, other), circulatory, respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, or urinary systems within their scope of practice in accordance with clinic protocols.
  • Alerts supervisor in charge immediately of any significant medical concern during the infusion.
  • Assists with daily tasks, including assisting in obtaining medical and psychiatric history.
  • Oversees infusion rooms including the re-stocking of treatment areas.
  • Manages inventory of supplies, notifying medical assistant of items that need to be ordered.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia/sedation record and electronic medical records (EMR) per clinic protocol
  • Ensure controlled substance policy is followed including storage, inventory, and wastage
  • Takes part in pre and post-infusion phone calls, documents patient status in EMR, and communicates any problems to the CRNA in charge.
  • Safely provide intramuscular injections as prescribed.
  • Maintain competencies in conscious sedation administration and monitoring of the sedated patient. Including airway protection, assessment and support of sedated patients.
  • Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precaution.
  • Attend any scheduled team meetings.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE: Completion of an accredited nursing program and an Iowa state RN license. Prior experience as a Registered Nurse (RN). Current BLS Certification. Current ACLS Certification.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
