• 
  Establishes, initiates, organizes, and conducts the recreation therapy treatment program including leisure education , aerobics, creative expression, outdoor education , community reintegration, and special events such as birthdays, holidays and graduation parties.
• Promotes the physical appearance of the unit through decorations, bulletin boards, and displays of student activities.
• Assists in the inventory and ordering of appropriate recreation therapy supplies.
• Works in team with administrative or other professional personnel such as those engaged in medicine, social work, nursing, psychology, and therapy to ensure that recreation is well balanced, coordinated, and integrated with special services.
• Completes appropriate and assigned written materials, documents and forms to assist in the organization and communication in the department. Develops a weekly schedule of planned patient activities.
• Attends and participates in treatment team meetings and selected therapeutic groups when the program schedule permits.
• Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns, following proper restraint technique guidelines, and displaying neutral emotions.

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university ; or one to two years

related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
