The Quality Engineer supports Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain Management
- Quality: The Quality Engineer is responsible for the continued development, implementation, and administration of Danfoss Quality Management System and strategic initiatives to achieve short and long term quality improvement objectives. This position supports and leads the quality effort for the Hydraulics Mountain Home Plant, including new development projects to attain a zero-defect culture, utilizing best-in-class prevention methodology. The position supports the Continuous improvement framework to deliver 100% conformance to customer requirements, including industry and regulatory standards.
- The Quality Engineer has a special focus on control of non-conforming product systems, process control, change control, and gage calibration/control. The Quality Engineer also has dotted-line supervision over the Quality Labs, and is responsible for ensuring day-to-day execution, cross-training, and overall performance of the lab to support the business needs.
- Manufacturing: The Quality Engineer position supports the capital planning process and participates in the planning and execution of capital projects across the manufacturing facility as assigned; specifications as they relate to raw materials provided to the Mountain Home plant
- Supply-Chain Management: The Quality Engineer position supports SCM by working directly with suppliers on quality concerns, supporting and building upon the internal customer/supplier relationships, by actively providing the customer interface and driving the expected results.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
QUALITY
- Provides Quality Engineering support in Supplier Quality using (WISPER) Worldwide Interactive Supplier Performance Evaluation Reporting to interface with Suppliers to support measurement of their performance
- Gathers factual data and leads 8D teams through Measure Analyze Improve and Control (MAIC) process to reduce scrap, rework and other waste.
- Performs internal and external audits to the ISO9001 and EQS standard.
- Provides tactical supervision to quality technicians and lab technicians, as well as execution of a cross-training plan for Quality department, continued development of the team’s skills and competencies. Supports EHS requirements for zero-incident culture for the work environment
- Assists with driving an engaged work-force culture within Empowered Work Teams to create an understanding in the application of the Quality tools; drives execution of A3 problem-solving in Empowered Work Teams.
- Provides support and aid in the progression of ISO9001 and Eaton Quality System (EQS) compliance.
- Assists in developing, maintaining and keeping current Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA’s), control plans, and related activities per Eaton policies and AIAG guidelines.
- Assists customers with quality related issues.
MANUFACTURING
- Provides manufacturing engineering support through capital planning management and execution.
- Drives long term vision of assigned roadmap to support reduction of DPPM.
- Coordinates with customers to ensure packaging specifications align with customer expectations.
- Works in a safe manner and perform other duties as necessary.
Background & Skills
Required (basic) qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited institution
- 3 Years of experience applying quality tools or related field/discipline
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working with supplier quality
- Six Sigma Black-belt, Green-belt, and/or CQE certification by ASQ
- Lean Manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process
