Department: Laboratory
Essential Functions:
- Tests products for temperatures throughout production
- Visually inspects products at various stages of production
- Selects products for overall quality
- Visually inspects packages for proper dates, codes, seals, and gas mixtures
- Verifies correct net weight of product
- Tests pickle solution and seasoning solutions for salt, PH, and specific gravity
- Observes employees to ensure they are following good manufacturing practices (GMPs)
- Observes employees to ensure they are following “HACCP” critical control points
- Records relevant information on food tags
- Reviews hazard analysis critical control points (HACCP) records for critical control points as it relates to how the product is cooked
Secondary Functions:
- Follow safe work processes
- 70% standing, 30% sitting
- Interacts with supervisors and co-workers regarding findings and recommendations
- May lift up to 50lbs
- Works in cold environment (about 30 degrees)
- Use of both hands
- Use of Microsoft Office
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma;
- 1-2 years’ experience in Quality Control or Assurance
- Understanding of OSHA and/or USDA desired
- Experience in a meat production facility a plus
- Military experience welcomed
