Summary:
The Quality Coordinator ensures that the execution of the quality system conforms to the documented control plans in the plant. They lead quality assurance activities for the plant. This position may become involved in process, test, and product development issues in manufacturing departments and in customer locations in order to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction. It requires significant hands-on decision experience and/or strong problem solving skills to make judgments on product quality in multiple process areas. It also has supervisory responsibility for hourly QA Technical staff to ensure the quality systems and policies for the plant are properly executed. The Quality Assurance Manager fulfills the responsibilities of this role when vacant.
Pay Range:
$55, 000.00-$65,000.00

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Engage all customer complaints (internal and external) to provide outstanding solutions. Understands Scholle IPN complaint system.
- Generate informational reports and create needed awareness to ensure complaints are appropriately investigated and closed.
- Communicate directly with customers and troubleshoot processes for finished bag products, films, and fitments at customer.
- Assist in customer visits to ensure all customer requirements are met.
- Lead a recall in the absence of the Quality Manager following the recall policy.
- Understand and ensure escalation process is executed. Escalates to production and quality management of gaps.
- Defines and refines Employee Certification programs for production staff. Ensure QA staff are trained on all relevant procedures.
- Conduct product and system audits to evaluate and improve products and processes.
- Maintain a log (using the hold issue database and/or other electronic logs) of all hold system in the plant and makes recommendations for reserves. Defines disposition of suspicious materials in a timely manner following the relevant policies.
- Troubleshoot field performance problems using Root Cause and Comparative Analysis methodologies.
- Perform analysis and provide solutions to issues in assigned manufacturing department(s).
- Support and help develop TWI Employee skills program.
- Support product development through testing and analysis.
- Report on projects and activities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Engage actively in meetings and planning activities with the Production department.
- Perform physical and performance testing on products using a variety of instrumentation.
- Read and interpret basic drawings related to testing standards for bags and fitments. Able to train others.
- Ensures that equipment start-up and verification activities are carried out.
- Responsible for overseeing food safety.
- Supervise and direct work of hourly QA Trainers. Familiar with time card system and to be able to conduct weekly time approvals. Must track and adhere to plant overtime policies.
- Responsible for ensuring quality system is properly executed.
- Makes hold and disposition decisions for medium to high risk situations. The back-up for this position for these decisions is the Quality Manager.
- Participate and interact in production tier meetings (Tier 1,2,3,4).
- Assist in rolling out programs and adhering to SES Pillar audits/programs.

Education:
Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant technical field from an accredited college or university, or two (2) to three (3) years relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Work Experience and/or Skills:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of plastics, extrusion, injection molding, or packaging required.
- Significant technology background and/or minimum of a 2 year degree in a manufacturing technology area.
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is preferred.
- Experience in basic quality tools, ASQ certification preferred
- Food Safety training is preferred but not required (SQF, HACCP).
- Strong communications skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Ability to lead investigations that can have significant impact.
- Must be able to work flexible hours in order to support a 24 hour workforce.
- Proficiency with MS Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc.) required. Background in Minitab preferred. Background in Microsoft SharePoint preferred.
- Use basic digital imaging software and digital camera interface for documentation. Willingness and ability to quickly learn custom applications in MRP, complaint management.
Certifications & Licenses:
- SQF preferred, Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant technical field from an accredited college or university, or two (2) to three (3) years relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment.
