The Opportunity:
As a Python Developer, you’ll focus on the development of tools to support the growth of data quality capabilities, decommissioning legacy business systems, data cataloging and data minimization work. You will possess strong knowledge of data quality concepts, database fundamentals, and data architecture. You will also have experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and be able to apply these skills to build robust and scalable tools. Here, you’ll have a passion for tackling problems and building solutions. You’ll not only be a strong developer but should be able to work with a small team and ready to contribute ideas. You will be able to effectively communicate the solution and how it works to less technical users who may ultimately use the tool. This is a small team working to ensure the firm’s business data is fit for use by our reporting and analytics teams and trusted by leadership.
You will develop and maintain a python library to deliver validations of data from various sources. Using Agile development, you will expand on the existing capabilities of the tool to enable continued growth of data quality functions. You will work with the data quality team to define requirements and translate them to code in addition to analyzing existing code, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing. In addition to developing the data quality library you will be responsible for developing solutions that support ingestion of data dictionaries, discovery of data in systems for decommissioning, and generation of metadata to support other data governance initiatives. Work with us to use big data for good. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
What You’ll Work On:
- Design, develop and maintain data quality tools using Python.
- Collaborate with the data team to understand data quality requirements and translate them into software solutions.
- Maintain and improve libraries to extract, transform and load database metadata into data dictionaries.
- Write and execute queries to support data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Design, develop and maintain data validation routines to ensure quality data.
- Collaborate on development of data quality dashboards and reports.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality.
- Continuously improve data quality processes and tools.
- Document data quality processes, data flows, and data models.
- Communicate solution design and use to non-technical team members and users.

You Have:
- Experience with Python development
- Experience with database fundamentals and data architecture
- Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SQL, or data analysis
- Ability to build credibility and trust with internal customers and clients quickly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to schedule and complete work tasks independently and work within deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience as developer in lieu of degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience with cloud technologies, including Azure
- Experience with deploying and maintaining Python packages
- Experience with PySpark and Databricks
- Experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, and Hive
- Experience in working with APIs, including SOAP or REST
- Knowledge of data observability, rule-based data validation, and data profiling
- Knowledge of data quality concepts and data management industry frameworks, including DMBOK and EDM DCAM
- Ability to work in a team environment and pay strict attention to detail
- Possession of excellent problem-solving skills
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. Work Model
