The Permanent Substitute role is a floating position covering teacher, instructional associate or schoolsecretary duties on a short-term, temporary basis in their respective schools. Duties and responsibilities mayinclude: - Provide learners with teacher assigned homework and manage classroom activities.- Adhere to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by regular teacher.- Follow procedures and achieve lesson goals.- Oversee students outside classroom including in hallways and cafeteria.- Comply with all school regulations and policies.- Take attendance and document daily notes.- Ensure classroom and work is kept clean and orderly.- Oversee normal classroom rhythms and activities.- Assist teacher with classroom instructional tasks as assigned, including reading and listening tostudents, and reviewing their work.- Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IndividualizedEducation or 504 Plans.- Support teacher with clerical work, record keeping, and preparation of instructional materials,displays and bulletin boards, and other noninstructional tasks as assigned.- Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional dutiesand use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.- Work with students individually and in small groups to assist with learning of content and skillsintroduced by teacher.- Perform standard clerical tasks.- Assist School Principal with projects.- Distribute essential material to students and parents.- Maintain files on essential material as applicable.- Prepare documents of communication as directed by School Principal.- All other duties assigned by the School Principal
