Job description
Hay Creek Hotels Corporate office is seeking an experienced hospitality Corporate Property Controller/Staff Accountant to join our team. The right candidate will have the flexibility to work in a hybrid/remote setting with some travel to HCH portfolio hotel properties as needed, and meet with team members in Corporate flagship offices in Exeter, New Hampshire. Out of area applicants will still be considered.

Job Summary;
- Independently manages monthly P&L process for 5-7 properties
- Perform timely month end closing activities while adhering to GAAP/USALI principles.
- Work closely with local Accounting managers on month end needs, such as timely invoice entry, appropriate report generation, cash management, and more.
- Field all accounting related questions from local hotel level as it relates to the monthly financial statements and resolve issues accordingly.
- Work closely with the Corporate Controller to assist in the accurate and timely preparation of company financial reports.
- Manage the accounting process and perform Balance Sheet Reconciliations monthly, promptly addressing any reconciling issues. Verify supporting documents against ledger balances as required.
- Work closely with property level GMs and Accounting Managers to ensure accuracy of all general ledger information.
- Reconcile bank reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts.
- Monthly tax filing and reconciliations. Responsible for making sure all tax related supporting documents (including tax exempt info) are properly filed/saved and tax returns are filed and paid timely.
- Perform corrections/adjustments to daily postings in M3 Accounting system.
- Manage the Cash Management module in M3 and update regularly to ensure it balances and is accurate with registers tying out to General Ledger Cash Accounts.
- Work with other Accounting team members to maintain intercompany accounts and submit reimbursements/journal entries as needed.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality relating to all information within the Accounting Department.
- Maintain accounting periods in M3.
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of the Hay Creek HR and Accounting audit checklists.
- Assist Corporate Controller with other projects and reporting to include audit preparation, financial reporting, etc.
- Work closely with Corporate Controller and Assistant Corporate Controller on special assignment and projects.
- Attend reoccurring departmental and corporate meetings.
- Carry out additional assignments as delegated.
- Periodic travel to properties, as needed for training & transitions

Experience and Skills:
- 4 Year Accounting/Finance degree or equivalent work experience
- Hotel/Hospitality Industry accounting experience required
- Proven AP/AP and GL management
- Understanding of GAAP principals
- Month end closing and financial analysis
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Expert in web-based accounting systems
- Able to furnish a valid driver’s license. Frequent travel to HCH properties required.
- Proven communication skills
- Ability to travel as needed for training & transitions.
- A team mentality with willingness to train and work with others
- Clean work habits with great attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively while maintaining calmness, composure, and hospitality
