We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Research Project Manager in our Research Strategic Operations Team. You will support one or more Research Teams (RT) through the advancement of our exciting CAR T pipeline and next generation adaptive immunotherapy. The successful Research Project Manager, Kite Research Strategic Operations is responsible for supporting Research Team activities, including:

Responsibilities

  • Guide business operations within Research including interacting with vendors, on-boarding new vendors, resolving issues with vendors.
  • Perform as functional bridge between external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Creating and reviewing work orders and experimental research plans
  • Creating purchase orders and reconciling invoices and payments.
  • Organize and develop Research projects and teams, ensuring timely, efficient, and action-oriented operations within established requirements to deliver quality outputs on time and on budget.
  • Prepare agenda, minutes, and action items for Research Team Meetings and identify risks and opportunities, implement corrective actions and implement on the project plan and program.
  • Guide Research team communications and ensure that all stakeholders are fully informed of project activities and their status, utilizing Research report and SharePoint sites
  • Works in partnership with project lead and functional leads, to develop, identify risks and opportunities, implement corrective actions and implement on the project plan and program.
  • Manages research project team through stage gate reviews toward milestone completion.
  • Along with the project lead, represents the research project team at Research governance meetings for major strategic decisions.
  • Liaises with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Program Manager, CMC Program Manager, Alliance Manager, Legal, Purchasing, and Accounts Payable, etc.) to implement on cross-functional deliverables and resolve issues.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School degree and 6 years of experience OR
  • Associate degree and 5 years of experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience OR
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience consists of work in a scientific field or equivalent experience in association with R D project teams and/or in cross-functional project management activities. Prior experience in cellular therapy, synthetic biology, oncology research greatly preferred.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to identify errors
  • Extensive understanding of research and candidate identification process.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills along with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate progress toward milestones, opportunities, and risks to all stakeholders.
  • High emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate through challenging situations and difficult conversations.
  • Excellent ability to develop trust, along with demonstrated ability to facilitate, lead and guide colleagues across the organization to achieve department, operations teams, and corporate goals.
  • Comfortable and efficient in a demanding, exciting, passionate, often fluid environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with SAP/ERP systems.
  • PMP Certification.

The salary range for this position is: $101,830.00 - $131,780.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
