GENERAL SUMMARY

Assign, train, direct and work with a designated number of persons in the proper performance of their production operations, as assigned, under the general direction of the Production Supervisor. Work involves meeting with responsible managers/planners to receive work orders instructions and schedules. Assist in the processing of work orders, visual controls, Kanban signals, and meeting with preceding or following shift supervisors or group leaders to maintain continuity of the production schedules and pass on pertinent information concerning schedules and assigned tasks and perform any of the assigned job functions in its entirety, in accordance with work load priorities.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job title held at least 80% of time.
  • Train and ensure fellow workers perform tasks in the prescribed manner utilizing intended jigs, fixtures, production aids, and safety equipment and procedures.
  • Maintain work flow in the area to be executed as smoothly as possible by assuring that necessary equipment and material be available on a timely basis.
  • Distribute work evenly with strict attention to worker’s skill level.
  • Meet production schedules and efficiency goals.
  • Assure quality is maintained.
  • Recommend methods, product revisions and equipment intended to simplify and improve operations, work conditions and quantity.
  • Assists in the preparation and updating of production documents.
  • Responsible for assuring that all products in the area of responsibility are manufactured per current specifications and tested properly.
  • The production group leader will not have the ability to hire and fire, but recommendations will have a bearing in such matters. Advancement and advancement potential information will be solicited from the group leader by the supervisor to assist in judgment in such matters.
  • Provide an active working nucleus for a team effort by providing the demonstrated know-how; positive, proactive attitude; and strong leadership. Plays a major role in enforcement of company rules and regulations.

SKILLS

  • Must have working knowledge of all tools, machines, and procedures in assigned work centers.
  • Knowledge of installation, operation, maintenance and repair of compressed air equipment is preferred or other industrial equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable and well organized. Basic PC skills, including experience using MS Word, Excel.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • On job training delivery
  • Ability to read blue prints.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • One-year certificate from technical school or five years of progressive experience in manufacturing; Associates Degree preferred with three years of manufacturing experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time and operate machinery and/or lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, bend, stoop, walk or work in high precarious places. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and ability to adjust focus. PPE is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and equipment of various sizes. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
