Job description
Plans and establishes production schedules to meet customer demands. Develops production schedules in accordance with sales forecast, production capacity, material shortages. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent.
Works closely with purchasing and manufacturing to plan and prepare production schedules for manufacture of machines and parts to plan production by performing the following duties.
Manages and development of direct reports consisting of: Production Scheduler (s), Logistics Coordinator and Cycle Counter (s)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and coordinates the daily/weekly/monthly and long-term master schedules for each production line with the goal to meet/exceed customer expectations. Responsible to inform relevant departments about known and potential delivery delays Make sure schedule includes optional equipment where appropriate and that the original BOM is updated on the MO where appropriate. Notify customer service if the option is not compatible with the required machine
- Responsible for creating, releasing, and maintaining manufacturing orders (MO) and solving issues throughout the life cycle of the MO until financial close.
- Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, or engineering etc.
- Check shortages with buyer/planners for manufacturing orders.
- Coordinating/Communicating production schedule with Purchasing, Customer Service, Production, Warehouse, Quality, Manufacturing engineer, R&D
- Manage delivery times, ensure schedule accuracy
- Prepare/ submit status and performance reports, follow KPIs, root cause analysis
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Daily/Weekly/Monthly meetings
- Identify material back flushing issues or other issues related to incorrect Master Data, Process errors, non-activated machines etc., support unissued report issues
- Maintain cycle count program and ensure schedules are met and accuracy is at or above plant goal.
- Engineer Change Orders (ECO) Meeting – receives documentation of change orders and discusses changes with manufacturing engineer to improve production procedure/effectivity date changes and control in case of created manufacturing order
- Participate in new project introduction
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Associates or bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production planning
KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Sufficient skills to read manuals/drawings/BOMs
- Effective team-member is essential in this key role
- Sense of urgency and able to prioritize/multi-task well.
- Demonstrated understanding/experience of complex scheduling systems, inventory management, and capacity planning practices in a manufacturing environment
- Process oriented.
- Strong personality; will stand up for personal views and ideas.
- Maintains focus with constant distractions, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Customer focus (internal and external)
- Conflict management
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Ability to manage LN and related systems.
- Strong excel, word and access skills required.
