Spherion staffing is currently hiring for an experienced Product Development/Materials Manager for a client located in New Bedford, Ma!

Assignment: Permanent Placement

Yearly Salary: $90,000 - $110,000

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm

The Product Development/Materials Manager Responsibilities:

- Plans, coordinates, and directs programs for research, product development, and improvement of manufacturing processes.

- Coordinates research and analysis activities pertaining to materials, manufacturing processes, or other considerations, and approves modification of formulas, standards, specifications, and processes.

- Calls on customer representatives such as engineers or other professional and technical personnel at commercial, industrial, and other establishments to provide technical support pertaining to products and services offered.

- Advises management, technical personnel, and representatives of other departments of activities.

- Prepares reports and technical papers.

- Prepares and administers department budget.

- Ensures compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 Testing Laboratory requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for supervising the Material Development Chemist and the Laboratory Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree: Science or Chemical Engineering

5-10 years overall elastomer formulation experience

5-10 years direct manufacturing support

5-10 years supervisory experience

Experience with rubber mixing & processing equipment (Banbury, mill, extruder, etc.)

Experience with a variety of manufacturing techniques (compression, transfer, injection, etc.)
