Job Description:

Summary:

Evaluates, develops, and demonstrates demonstrates business cases for new capabilities in materials and/or machine learning technologies That make important contributions to growth initiatives for the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Designs and conducts plans and experiments to support the creation of new capabilities that can be leveraged in our business units
  • Builds business cases to support chosen technology investment areas
  • Develops and executes roadmap for greater leverage of machine learning and computational chemistry tools into the company
  • Successfully measures and tracks project metrics
  • Builds third-party relationships to support execution of projects and programs. Coordinates the efforts of functional project partners at universities, third party collaborators, relevant government agencies, and internal employee resources
  • Acquires key equipment and identifies and obtains necessary project resources. Mentors 1-3 technicians and/or engineering professionals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics or Materials-Science;
  • 5+ years of development, evaluation, and commercialization of applied materials
  • Demonstrated understanding in use of advanced computational tools to accelerate product development
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, recognize patterns, and draw valid conclusions and experience with dealing with both abstract and concrete variables
  • Strong critical thinking and experimental skills with a proven track record of project contributions and solving complex challenges
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods for data evaluation and experiment design
  • Demonstrated success with driving value from innovation
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to successfully work independently and as part of a cross functional, multi-disciplinary teams while designing and implementing program strategy
  • Travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally
